Process Metering
We provide metering, datalogging, and remote real-time access to the data for any physical quantity that can be measured by a sensor. Typical data intervals are 1 minute, but 1 second intervals can be recorded as well.
Combining these real-time values provides real-time output of energy per unit produced, pump efficiency, compressed air system efficiency, etc.
A large value of metering is that about half the time, the results reveal that what is going on it not what is expected. When persons knowledgeable with a process see what is actually going on, they quickly know how to reduce the cost of operation and make the process more consistent. You can also see how your process changes as you make adjustments. Normally this metering can be set up on one day.
Common Metered Values
- Temperature
- Pressure
- Product output counter
- Liquid flow (water, ammonia, glycol solution, liquid products, etc.)
- Air flow
- Compressed air flow
- Electricity use
- Natural gas use
- On/Off status of something
- Combustion efficiency
Common Calculated Values Using Metered Values
- Energy use per part produced
- Energy cost per part produced
- Energy efficiency of a machine (pump, compressor, refrigeration, heater, boiler, etc.)
- Heat exchanger efficiency
Common Diagnostics Using Metering
- Quantify variances of a processes efficiency to identify how to eliminate lower efficiency operation
- Identify where to find improvements based on pattern of energy use
- Troubleshoot source of production problems
- Evaluate pre and post modification impact
- Quantify needed capacity for design
- Remove bottlenecks in a process
